SMA warmly welcomes Tom Smith, Chief Operating Office (COO)

SMA is delighted to announce that Tom Smith has joined the team as COO.

The COO role is a newly created position within the Executive Team, recognising the continued growth in our business and in line with our vision to invest in the Bankstown and Camden Airport precincts to create the ultimate gateway.

Reporting to CEO Daniel Jarosch, Tom will have oversight of SMA operations, and will lead the strategy and significant commercial initiatives across aviation, property, asset management, infrastructure and development.   Tom will work closely with Altis, SMA’s development and investment management partners on behalf of owner Aware Super.

Tom’s extensive experience leading development and asset management teams within the property and aviation sectors will contribute enormously to SMA repositioning strategy.

Tom Smith said “SMA has an exciting vision for general aviation in Sydney and NSW, and I am very excited to have joined the team to continue to elevate these strategic gateway assets”.

Tom has extensive experience in various property and aviation development and commercial leadership roles, most recently as the manager leading Dexus Industrial Development in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, and previously managing Development and Corporate Real Estate for Qantas Airways.  This ranges from the delivery of catering and freight facilities, hangars, flight training facilities, to progressing airport Major Development Plans and largescale warehousing.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Business from University of Technology Sydney and a Masters in Property Development from the University of New South Wales.
