Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown is located within the Bankstown Local Government Area approximately 26km south west of the Sydney CBD and 17km from Sydney Airport. It has close proximity to the Bankstown CBD (5km) and Liverpool CBD (6km).

The site occupies an area of approximately 313.3ha and is bound by:

  • Henry Lawson Drive and the Georges River Golf Course to the west. Areas west of the River are largely parkland and industrial sites
  • Milperra Road, Bankstown Golf Course and industrial land to the south
  • Marion Street and residential areas to the north
  • Birch and Wackett Street and a mixture of commercial and industrial parkland to the east.

The Airport sits within the broader central west Sydney industrial and commercial zone, and remains the only large developable parcel of land within the region.

The Airport has convenient access to major arterial roads including the M5 and M7 to the south, Henry Lawson Drive to the west and the Hume Highway to the north. Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown is well located with respect to key population and economic growth areas in Bankstown, Fairfield, Parramatta and Liverpool.

The Airport has been identified as one three specialised centres within the West Central Sub-Regional Strategy under the NSW Government’s Sydney Metropolitan Strategy and is considered an important contributor to the economic and employment growth within the broader metropolitan strategy.
